How Add-In Quoting Works

Three simple steps from your CAD design to a manufactured part.

1

Install & Open

Install the add-in from your CAD marketplace and open it within your design environment.

2

Select & Analyze

Select the solid body or surface, choose material and finish. DFM analysis runs automatically.

3

Quote & Order

Review pricing instantly. Accept the quote and place your order — all from within your CAD tool.

File Format Reference

All major CAD formats are supported. For best results, we recommend solid models over surface or mesh formats.

STEP (.stp/.step)
Best

Neutral 3D format — preserves solid geometry, assemblies, and product structure. Preferred for all platforms.

IGES (.igs/.iges)
Good

Widely compatible surface format. Loses some parametric data but works for geometry-only quoting.

Parasolid (.x_t/.x_b)
Best

High-fidelity solid model format used by NX, SolidWorks, and Solid Edge. Excellent geometry preservation.

STL (.stl)
Limited

Mesh format — loses feature recognition. Use only for visual reference or 3D-printed parts. STEP preferred.

Export Tips for Best Results

  • • Always export in solid body mode, not surface — surface exports may fail feature recognition.
  • • Set export units to millimeters — our system auto-detects units, but mm is most reliable.
  • • For assemblies, export as a single STEP file with assembly structure preserved.
  • • Suppress cosmetic threads — export the hole diameter only; our system will detect thread specs from your drawing.
  • • Remove proprietary or internal-only features before exporting — export only the manufacturable geometry.
